  • 1 pound ground beef (95% lean)
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 12 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 8 hot dog buns
  • 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, panko breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, and salt until mixed.
  2. Form into small meatballs (about 1 inch) and place on a lined baking sheet. Bake for about 20 minutes until cooked through.
  3. While baking, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add marinara sauce and simmer.
  4. Once the meatballs are done, coat them in the marinara sauce. Toast hot dog buns if desired.
  5. Fill each bun with meatballs and top with mozzarella cheese. Serve warm.
