  • lbs sirloin tips, cubed
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch + ¼ cup cold water for slurry
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp each: salt, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, paprika
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1½ tsp Worcestershire sauce (halal)
  • ¼ tsp each: dried thyme, rosemary

Instructions

  1. Season cubed sirloin tips with spices and coat them in flour.
  2. In a heavy skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat and brown the beef on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, sauté diced onion and minced garlic in butter until soft.
  4. Add beef broth, bouillon cube, Worcestershire sauce (halal), thyme, rosemary, onion powder, and garlic powder. Stir to combine and let simmer gently.
  5. Return browned beef to the pan and simmer covered for 20–25 minutes until tender.
  6. Thicken the gravy with a cornstarch slurry if desired.
  7. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
